  • The Bass Track

    The Bass Track, a new service and scholarship initiative derived from the MAC SCHOLARS program at Columbia High School, Maplewood, rewards participants for community service, volunteer work and academic achievement. Students are eligible to apply for the 2-year program starting in their junior year. Upon completion of their senior year and all program requirements, the participants earn a scholarship toward their college education.

  • The Learning Center

    The Learning Center was created to provide support to struggling students who require extra instruction or who have fallen behind in their studies, and to set them up for academic success. Offering both one-on-one or group sessions at no cost with experienced teachers and tutors, The Learning Center is open on Saturdays from 9am to 12pm and located in East Orange, NJ.

  • Back Pack Buddies

    Each week, we deliver over 80 bags to the Louverture School in East Orange. The bags contain kid-friendly meals, drinks and snacks to help children whose families are struggling. 

    Many families depend on the school hot lunch program for their children during the school week, but have insufficient food at home during the weekends. 

    The Bass Foundation's Back Pack Buddies helps to address this issue by providing nourishing weekend meals.

  • College Bound

    Scholarships are awarded to Columbia High School seniors who achieve academic recognition and demonstrate financial need. This annual scholarship piggybacks our College Mentoring Program in which we mentor High School students from under-served families in pre-college prep, essay and interview support. Laptop computers are offered to students entering college on a need basis.

    enthusiastically anticipate a bevy of Bass Foundation volunteers who deliver, prepare, and serve a sumptuous holiday dinner. Entertainment, social interaction and special holiday gifts make for a fun and festive event. It is our chance to make a difference to the seniors who are often forgotten.

  • Cozy Coats For Kids

    In early November, The Bass Foundation fits every child at the Louverture School with a brand new warm winter coat. Volunteers are on hand to help the children choose their favorite styles. 

  • Jingle Bell Holiday Giveaway

    The Annual Jingle Bell Giveaway event is an opportunity for Bass Foundation volunteers to spread joy and distribute clothing and toys to 500+ children in East Orange, NJ. With over 100 volunteers bringing cheer, it is the largest Bass Foundation event of the year and much awaited event in the East Orange Community.

  • Love Giving

    The Bass Foundation volunteers open their hearts to over 1,000 students in the East Orange School District with “Love Giving” initiatives including a Holiday Extravaganza, MLK Book Buddies, Valentine’s Day Winter Buddy Bags, and a Healthy Stay Hydrated Program. Over the years, The Bass Foundation has facilitated various giving programs benefitting children and families in East Orange, NJ.

  • A Holiday in July at Newark Beth Israel

    Each Summer, The Bass Foundation delivers toys to all patients in the Child Life Department, Children’s Hospital of New Jersey of the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. The Bass Foundation fulfills wishes of toys, blankets and other essentials needed by staff and patients. On this very special day, ice cream is delivered to each room on the Child Life Floor for volunteers, family, and staff.

  • Health & Wellness

    In collaboration with the East Orange School District, The Bass Foundation participates in Health and Wellness initiatives for students. Topics include female health education, dental hygiene, kindness, and so much more. Volunteers, staff, and student interaction make for a fun, enjoyable and educational experience for all.

  • Boys' Reading Club​

    The Boys’ Reading Club is an after school program designed for second and third-grade boys to instill a lifelong joy of reading. The Bass Foundation volunteers and teachers encourages and enhance literary appreciation skills of students from the Johnnie Cochran Academy, East Orange, NJ.

    Offered Tuesdays from 3:30pm – 4:30pm September through May.

  • Supporting Young Parents

    ​The Bass Foundation Diaper Buddies Program provides monthly shipments of diapers and baby wipes to over 50 single-parent families in East Orange and the surrounding areas.
